Dance

I started dancing in 2014 when I joined Soul Funky at Nanyang Technological University. I was curious about dance and have always wanted to learn how to become a dancer, but stopped short of trying due to my lack of courage.

It was only when I entered college did I push myself to join a dance club and start learning as I saw it as a final opportunity to experience dance. Upon graduation and entering the workforce, increased responsibilities would only make it harder to start.

As I attended more classes and performances, I found myself becoming more interested in dance as it was fun and allowed me to express my intepretation of the music. Gradually, I started to try out different styles of dance such as popping, locking, house and hiphop and took external classes to improve my technique.

Dance is a powerful language that brings people from all walks of life together as they express themselves through movement. It is also a relaxing activity that provides a respite from reality.

Drawing

Reading comics has been my hobby. I am always amazed by how comic artists manage to draw well consistently in every comic frame. Thus I started out to learn how to draw cartoon characters. This was in line with my childhood dream of becoming a game designer and thus, drawing slowly turned into a hobby.

However, since I did not take any drawing classes, I soon fell out of practise with drawing and was distracted by school work and games. It was only until recently where I got back in touch with my drawing interest due to my class on industrial design, where we had to sketch various products. I found incredible joy in creating new drawings and took pride in that.

I currently plan to create a series of drawings featuring the turtle character as depicted in the photos.

Travel

Travelling has widened my horizons and allowed me to meet different people and learn about different culture. What I enjoyed most in my travels were the opportunities to experience what nature has to offer, be it mountain trekking, canoeing or surfing in the beaches. These experiences were something that Singapore, my home country, has little to offer.

Over the years, I have visited Bali, Thailand, Korea, China, Indonesia, Europe and United States. Each country has their unique culture and experience. However, my most memorable trip was my Korea trip, as it was one of my earlier trips. I enjoyed the Olle-Trail in particular. It was a 20km hike along Jeju island and offered scenic views of the Jeju scenery along the trail. The amount of time required for the hike allowed us to slow down our pace and truly immersive ourselves in Jeju's nature.
